Its worth it, once there you wont look back. Yes, LaTeX does have a learning curve, but with the fabulous programs available for OS X it is very easy to use. Cocoaspell for spell checking (integrates nicely into all Mac applications including Aquamacs since version 22, great if you have to check more than one language).
